If you are a technology junkie, you probably belong to the SLOT crowd. They are the urban teenagers who spend at least 70 hours per week staring at a screen. What makes them so unique? It can be either a guy or a girl. But what do they have in common? Most SLOTs are either male or female. Regardless of the gender, these individuals share one thing in common: they live and breathe technology.

Adding a slot in Genesys Dialog Engine

You can add a slot in Genesys Dialog engine. Dialog engine recognizes discrete pieces of information as slots and uses them to fulfill the user’s intent. Each slot has a corresponding Slot Type, which describes what information to look for. This is done in the Utterance tab of Genesys UI. In the following section, you will learn about the different types of slots and how to add one.

First, you must log into Genesys Dialog Engine by using your Genesys Cloud CX credentials. The credentials are different depending on the region. To ensure you use the correct credentials, you must replace your current region with the region you wish to access Genesys Dialog Engine from. You must also log out of Genesys Cloud CX before deleting your existing account. After adding the slot, you must make sure that the user has sufficient privileges to access Genesys Dialog Engine.

After logging in to Genesys Dialog Engine, you must enable the Bot action. This action is essential for creating knowledge bots. It allows bots to understand human input and communicate back to users. Once your bot has been configured, you can add a slot to it to improve its efficiency and customer experience. You can also add predefined question and answer pairs or FAQs to the bot.

Adding a slot from the Utterance tab

In order to map utterances to slots, they must be first mapped. From the Utterance tab, select a specific word or phrase, then double-click it. Select a slot name. A colored underline indicates the slot value. Edit the slot name and its associated information to make it fit the utterance. Similarly, you can delete a slot by selecting it from the Slots tab.

To add multiple utterances for the same slot, click the + sign. Alternatively, you can use regular expressions to add synonyms. For example, you can use “Birthday” for a name slot and “NYC” for a city slot. If you want to add more than one synonym, check the “Allow Synonyms” checkbox. Next to the slot type value, click the “Enter synonyms” field. Then, select a synonym and click X.
